课程评估
课程评估计划: 随着新课程的提出, the department develops measurable 学生学习成果 that are recorded in an 评估计划 for each credit course offered by the department. 对于大多数课程, the 评估计划 includes 3-5 学生学习成果 (SLOs), 评估策略或作业, 和 an identified target for each outcome. For courses included in the General Education 有限分配核心; the Plan will also include the 4+1 program outcomes appropriate for the course category. These Plans are submitted to the Academic 项目 & Curricula Committee at the time the course is being considered for approval 和 becomes the starting point for the department’s course-level assessment process. 前进, assessment results 和 action plans will be reported electronically in TracDat in accordance with the college’s course-level assessment process 和 tracked by the Office of 学术评价.
核心课程: 除了, a Core Course of Study is created for each course 和 contains the departmentally approved course description, 目标, 学生学习成果, common core of material to be covered in the course, 和 the out-of-class requirements to be utilized by all instructors teaching the course. This document is particularly important for courses with multiple sections to ensure that a common core of knowledge is being covered regardless of modality or whether the course is taught by full- or part-time faculty. Departments may require common assessment strategies for the core content 和/or general education 学生学习成果.
课程映射: If the course is a requirement or support course for a program of study, the course 学生学习成果 are aligned to the 目标 和 learning outcomes at the program level. As each course 和 program is assessed 和 action plans developed, it is important to ensure that this alignment is maintained.
学生反馈: 除了 to the faculty members’ assessments, the college gains input on course quality from 学生回应调查 conducted for all credit classes offered each semester through an online survey issued via College email. The data is collected by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs 和 provided electronically to the appropriate academic dean. 教师 members receive their survey reports by course section once the semester has ended.
学生 Learning Outcomes Assessment (Yearly): 学生 learning outcomes assessment is the process by which student learning is defined for a course 和 assessment methods are used to generate 和 collect information for evaluating overall educational quality. 通过课程行动计划, faculty compile evidence 和 build on existing efforts to improve student learning. The outcomes assessment process is an extension of the professional work regularly conducted by faculty 和 is intended to be meaningful, 可以衡量的, 和可控的.

The expectation is that all active courses will be assessed each academic year 和 will submit an assessment plan for the semester the course is offered or the semester they choose to assess. 进行评估, course faculty will design a common assessment tool 和/or measurement instrument (i.e. rubric, checklist, exam) that assesses SLO competency near or at the end of a course. The assessment will measure student competency at a minimum baseline: 75% of 学生 will demonstrate competency at a C or higher. Assessment results 和 reporting will be required for all of the following; Fall, 春天, Summer courses 和 for all modalities to include face-to-face, 在线和混合.
